The Book of Acts
Today I am sharing a memory verse (above) and definitions of some of the terms used in Acts.
Agnostic: A person that believes it is not possible to know if God exists
Ascension: The going up of Jesus to heaven 40 days after His resurrection
Baptism in the Holy Spirit: The event in which a believer is first filled with the Holy Spirit with the initial, physical evidence of speaking in tongues (in a new language). God’s will is for each believer be filled with the Holy Spirit
Blasphemous: Disrespectful to God
Edifies: Builds up
Epistle: A letter written by early Christian writers and included as books of the Bible
Mount of Olives: The place from which Jesus ascended and the place to which he will return
Passover: Yearly feast to commemorate God’s delivering Israel from Egypt and death
Pentecost: Means fiftieth, Old Testament harvest festival, New Testament birthday of the church
Repentance: Changing your mind and turning away from a previous sinful way of life
Tongues: Speaking in other languages as the Spirit enables
Trinity: Term to describe the nature of God in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit
Yom Kipper: The holiest day of the Jewish year, also called The Day of Atonement
